About Calum

Calum Von Moger is a bodybuilder, actor, and model who hails from Victoria, Australia. But as large as he is now, he started off as a skinny kid with dreams of surpassing the muscle mass of his older brother. His bodybuilding journey began when he was 14, lifting rusty weights in an abandoned warehouse and helping out on his family’s farm. He went on to work at a store selling workout supplements, and in between shifts he pumped iron with friends at the gym. His dedication paid off, and in 2011 he started entering bodybuilding competitions. He would go on to win the title of Mr. Universe three times.

Von Moger moved to Los Angeles in 2014 to continue his fitness journey. However, in 2017, his bodybuilding days were looking numbered. Von Moger suffered a tear in his left bicep while performing a bicep curl with an extremely heavy weight. Shortly after recovery, he injured himself yet again when he lost control repelling off of a cliff. The accident resulted in a tear in his knee’s right patella as well as re-injuring his left bicep. In and out of numerous surgeries, he was rapidly losing muscle mass and gaining depression. For many bodybuilders, this would be career ending.

However, Von Moger used the setbacks to explore acting and modelling and eventually get back on track with his fitness. His recent film, Unbroken, shows the highs and lows of his recovery process.

Von Moger consumes 6 high-protein, high-calorie meals per day as well as a range of supplements. He starts with a mega smoothie of eggs, banana, peanut butter, ice cream, oats, milk, honey, and protein powder.

Two to three of his meals are white rice combined with a lean protein such as chicken, tuna, or beef. His favorite treats are watermelon with cottage cheese or any home-cooked meals made by friends or family.

Dinner is typically steak, potatoes, salad, and milk. He ends the day with a sweeter meal of milk and protein powder with either a bowl of oats or Nutella on toast with banana.

Throughout the day, he supplements with whey protein, creatine, beta-alanine, BCAA, pump powder, d-asparic acid, and glucose powder. He also takes multi-vitamins, fish oil, taurine, magnesium, and zinc.

Training & Workout Routine

Before his injuries, Von Moger trained for three hours a day, five to six times per week. One hour of that daily training was devoted to cardio—his favorite forms were swimming and mountain biking—and the other two hours were spent weight training specific areas of his body.

Best Known For

Calum Von Moger is a three-time champion of Mr. Universe—a competition where bodybuilders size up against competitors from all across the world. One of the most notable winners of this competition is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Due to Von Moger’s uncanny resemblance and similar Austrian and Dutch ancestry to Schwarzenegger, Von Moger is nicknamed ‘Arnold 2.0.’

During his recovery, he focused on improving his mental health and relationships with friends and family as well as his physical health.
