Meet Anita

Anita Herbert is a fitness model born near Budapest, Hungary. Growing up, she didn’t have a regular workout routine and was not even close to the fitness fanatic she is today. During her college years in Budapest she partied regularly and lived a less than healthy lifestyle, binging on junk food and alcohol every weekend.

At the age of 22, she decided to move to Miami after visiting her best friend. At age 24, due to encouragement from her husband, she started working out regularly and began to see rapid changes in her body. At the suggestion of some members of the local gym, she began competing as a female bodybuilder which, she claims, felt silly to her at first.

Quickly, she discovered her natural talent for competing and decided to pursue it further. On her Instagram, she gives fans advice and interacts with them as a source of inspiration. She states that when she first started competing she had no idea what she was doing because she had never been to a competition before. Now that she is more experienced, she claims that her biggest motivation is the mirror, encouraged by the fact that, despite regular fitness being difficult, she now enjoys the person she sees looking back at her.

She still lives in Miami, Florida with her family and says that she loves the beach and the warm weather–which she didn’t have much of growing up in Hungary. She has a large Instagram presence and enjoys taking photos to help motivate others and share her story. She also tells her fans to make sure that they, “Don’t compare [their] beginning to someone else’s middle,” fostering an environment of positivity on her social media and encouraging those around her to be their best selves. She sees herself as a normal person, hoping to share her journey with the world.

During the offseason, Anita simply watches her caloric intake to ensure that she doesn’t eat too much while continuing to train. During the competitive season, however, she sticks to a strict diet surrounding sources of protein such as chicken, fish, or egg whites, her main carbs are comprised of oats, quinoa, brown rice or sweet potato and she loves to incorporate vegetables into her diet.

She doesn’t allow herself cheat days when training, using other natural and healthy options to curb her sweet tooth should she find herself with a craving. She might eat some fruit or low-fat Greek yogurt with some cinnamon and infused protein powder.

She eats 5-6 small meals every day to keep her metabolism active and drinks 1-2 gallons of water every day when training.

She uses the following supplements carefully measured to fit her needs:

  • BCAA’s
  • L-Carnitine
  • Flaxseed
  • Glutamine
  • Fish Oil
  • CLA’s

Training & Workout Routine

Anita adheres to a very strict workout routine during the training season, targeting a different area of the body every day to give her muscles time to recover and build them consistently. She doesn’t allow herself a rest day, substituting cardio no Sundays to allow her muscles some time to recuperate.

In regards to her training, she enjoys 15-20 reps of an exercise in sets of four to allow herself a small break in between. Her schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: Leg workout focusing on glutes
  • Tuesday: Leg workout focusing on calves and hamstrings
  • Wednesday: Shoulder work Chest and Bicepts
  • Thursday: Back
  • Friday: Arms
  • Saturday: Abs and Chest
  • Sunday:Cardio

Best Known For

While Anita is best known for her two million followers on Instagram, her rise to fame really arose when she won her Pro Card by placing second in the IFBB Arnold Amateur North America competition. She gained a large following from her competitions and is now a social media sensation.

How Anita Can Inspire Us

Anita Herbert is an inspiration for many reasons including her down-to-earth nature. Not only is she a fitness model and bodybuilder, she is also an inspiration to millions through her Instagram where she enjoys communicating with fans. Anita is a person that likes to have fun and, despite her level of fame, she is not completely absorbed in herself. She allows herself kindness and is a motivation to us all due to the fact that she doesn’t compare herself harshly to others and encourages her fans to do the same.

Her motivation comes from within and, despite the fact that she’s working towards a competition, she motivates herself through her personal opinion of her body, not worrying what others think about how she looks. She trains because she enjoys it and because she was a startup with no real experience bodybuilding (just a short while ago) she inspires us all to reach our full potential and start from where we are.
